Theatre House They carry a bunch of really inexpensive plastic swords and wooden guns as well as a few steel swords and blank guns. They are not realistic or fight-worthy weapons by any stretch, but if you just need to get some items up there at pretty good prices, this is the way to go.

To rent movie quality or blank-firing modern guns that I don’t carry, try calling J&M Special Effects in Brooklyn, or Independent Studio Services (818 / 951-5600) in California. They both carry wonderful items, but remember that real guns, even if made to fire only blanks or even if non-firing, must still go through all federal and state waiting periods and paperwork. They are also very expensive.

For nearly 80 years Centre Firearms (now just known as Centre) in New York (212 / 244-4040) was the premier renter of theatrical firearms for Broadway and really most other theatres across the US. But they have shifted focus over the past couple of decades, preferring to specialize in real weapons training and procurement to mostly government military contracts. They still provide large-scale blank-fire weapons for major films, but are no longer interested in working with theatre.
