The modern Western imagination does not hold a monopoly on conflict, honor, or warfare. Long before European influence reshaped global narratives, civilizations across South America, Africa, Asia, and the Islamic Middle East developed distinct social orders, martial traditions, and expressions of violence. This chapter applies the framework of period style to those worlds, examining how their political structures, belief systems, and combat traditions shaped the physical and psychological bearing of their warriors. For the actor, the goal is not imitation, but informed embodiment.
